Union
History
|
On July 10, 1892, Union
Baptist Church was organized by a group of people
joining together in the area
north of Weatherford, Texas.
Captain Kidd of
Springtown gave two acres of land for the
Church. Tom B. Granstaff rode horseback for many
days to raise a building fund. He never
collected over one dollar a day.
The newly organized
church worshipped in the old Brawley School until a
building was completed in 1898. Services were
held in the building until the 1950s when a new one was
erected on the same site.
The Harmony Baptist
Missionary Association was organized in the church in
1905 and the church is still a member of the
association with other churches in the
area.
